OPENING OF THE 14TH SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL, 7 NOVEMBER 2018

The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Thailand, the National Science Museum (NSM), various government agencies and the private sector, organized the 14th Science Film Festival during 1 November – 23 December 2018.

The Science Film Festival aims to promote science culture among teachers, students and the general public as well as to encourage production of science media by both the public and private sectors. With this year’s theme “The Food Revolution” to provide better understanding of food and health, the film “Knietzsche: Bon Appetit! Knietzsche Eats” has been screened as the opening film of the festival, followed by a science show by the Goethe-Institut Thailand.

H.E. Mr. Teerakiat Jareonsettasin, MD, Minister of Education, presided over the Opening of the festival on Wednesday, 7 November 2018 at 13.30 hours at the Hall 201, 2nd floor, Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Sathorn, Bangkok. Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of IPST, H.E. Mr. Georg Schmidt, Ambassador-Designate of the Federal Republic of Germany to Thailand, Mrs. Maren Niemeyer, Director of the Goethe-Institut Thailand, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rawin Raviwongse, President of the National Science Museum Thailand were in attendance.

Accompanied by science activities, the selected films have been screened from 1 November to 23 December 2018 at the Science Center for Education at Bangkok Planetarium and eighteen other regional science centers, the Chumphon Vocational Training and Development Center for Thai People along the Border Areas, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the Thailand Science Park (Khlong Luang), the Sri Salaya Theater of the Film Archive (Public Organization), the National Science Museum, the Science Square at Chamchuree Square, and the City Learning Park in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
